The idea of enriching the square\u2019s functions and form based on the pattern of its paving has both practical and symbolic significance. The transformation, in both of these layers, represents a true redevelopment rather than building anew. Continuity is a key value here. At the same time, this assumption does not preclude deep transformations which, in the opinion of the Competition Jury, are beneficial.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two clearly defined types of space were achieved: a green, recreational area, and a paved, more formal space, scaled appropriately to accommodate potential public events and ceremonies.
