The building is located in Szamotuły, within a newly developing single-family home estate on the outskirts of the town. The plot is situated in the last line of development, bordering green areas around a stream to the north. The location and orientation of the plot presented both an advantage and a design challenge. The most favorable orientation of the house to the south also meant opening towards the front of the plot and the street.
To maintain the owners’ privacy while utilizing the southern exposure, a single-story layout in the shape of an asymmetrical T was chosen. At the front of the plot, there are two parking spaces with a canopy made of architectural concrete featuring a visible board pattern. The canopy leads along the part of the building perpendicular to the road to the entrance in the second part of the building.
The functional layout is characterized by two main axes—the private axis, perpendicular to the road, which includes bedrooms and a study with windows oriented to the east and west, and the daily axis leading from the entrance to the living room open to the south and north. The axes intersect in the kitchen, which is open to the living room. The through-view in the living room enlarges it optically and opens the interior to the green area to the north. To the south, the area allows for the arrangement of a large garden that isolates from the street.
The entire building is finished in a subdued, gray aesthetic with color accents in the form of architectural concrete and wooden slats on the facade under the eaves.
